Rosso di Montefalco

The story of Cantina Martinelli begins with the Marintelli family’s long-standing passion for wine and its deep roots in the Montefalco region. The land on which the vineyards and winery are built has been in the Martinelli family for many generations. The current owners, brothers Leonardo and Claudio Martinelli, inherited the property from their grandparents, and have set out to create a world-class winery that produces some of the finest wines in the region. In an effort to achieve this goal, they have hired world renown enologist and family friend Riccardo Cotarella as their winemaker.

VARIETAL:

Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Merlot

VINIFICATION:

The Montefalco Rosso represents a union of the strength of Sangiovese and Sagrantino, with the softness of Merlot. The Merlot is harvested in the middle of September, while the Sangiovese and Sagrantino are picked in mid-October. Each variety is then vinified separately and blended together after the wine has been introduced to wood.

COMMENTS:

An intense ruby red in color, violet reflections are evident in the glass. The ethereal aroma is redolent of black berries and red forest fruits. The palate reveals a pleasing structure with bountiful fruit notes. This wine should be paired with meat dishes and well aged cheeses.
