2006 Granbazán Ambar Albariño
The Granbazán Albariño Ambar was the first stunning Albariño made through a new fermentation process. Medium straw color. Greatly intense aroma, with a floral and mineral touch and a background of mature tropical fruits, where it shows hints of banana and mango. It is quite thick, with good acidity, tasty, fresh, expressive and with wonderful persistence.
-Wine & Spirits Magazine. 92 points. Named "The Best Spanish Wine."
-January 2007 Taste of the World: Named 3rd Best Wine Rias Baixas (Spain) with a punctuation of 74.7 out of 100, which places it among the best punctuated wines of the world.
-Wine Enthusiast. 90 points. "Our favorite among this winery's 2005s Ambar offers tight, dry, precise aromas backed by driving flavors of melon, peach and orange-blossom honey. Very much on the spot; an Albariño that you can't go wrong with." August 2006.
- Morrell, New York: "This is the best Albariño we have ever tasted. Very sophisticated."
Albariño
Cold maceration is one of the pillars in the distinction of Granbazán wines. Collection is made by hand and in boxes, marking the beginning of the fermentation process of these elegant fruity wines. Maceration takes place between 5-7°C. The fermentation tanks are situated above the recipients of the must, meaning that the extracted must is done so only by means of gravity. Alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperatures in stainless steel tanks over 1.5 months.
Finished wine remains in stainless steel tanks for about 8 months to let it mature and soften.
