www.donmanuelvillefane.com Don Manuel Villefañe is a winery in Maipú, Argentina dating from 2002. The name relates to the ancestor of one of the founders, Tomas Machado de Villefañe. His ancestor, Don Manuel Villefañe arrived in Argentina in 1611 from Spain and worked as a farmer, becoming a pioneer of Argentinean viticulture. He was one of the first men planting Spanish vineyards on these lands. His goal was to provide wine to the church’s priests and later to the colonists. The winery is located in the foothills of the Andes. The soil in this area is made up of almost entirely round stones from when the glaciers spread rock and smoothed it over miles and miles. The elevations of the vineyards range from 880 meters to 1050 meters elevation above sea level.
