Chablis, Les Clos
If there is one estate to give credit in exalting the Chablis name, it is Domaine Francois Raveneau. Long associated with the inexpensive bulk wine in California, the true Chablis of Burgundy are explosive Chardonnays with a driving vein of acidity thanks in part to the limestone rich soils. Raveneau is meticulous in the vineyards and produces wines that are worth every penny of their going rate.
The Les Clos vineyard was the first of the seven Grand Cru vineyards planted in Chablis. The limestone and white clay rich soil produces firm wines with a beautiful acidity and luscious minerality.
