Chateau Leoville Las Cases
Chateau Leoville Las Cases is one of the largest and oldest classified growths in the Medoc. Originally the other two Leovilles, Leoville Poyferre and Leoville Barton were part of the large estate. Today Leoville Las Cases comprises over 209 acres and has been run since 1950 by the Delon Family. The current director is the well known Michel Delon.
St. Emilion
Troplong Mondot
Under the leadership of Christine Valette, this chateau has turned out some of St. Emilion's best wines, and helped elevate the estate to 1er Grand Cru Classe status in 2006.
The 95 vintage is powerful, well-structured with pronounced complex tannins, and deep aromas of truffles and blackberries that develop over time. Rich in the mouth, full without being hard, very elegant and fruity.
Graves
Lafite Rothschild 1988 (750 ml), 1984 (750 ml)
This wine comes to Barterhouse direct from a discreet and savvy Delaware collector. This wine is originally from the John Durance collection.
Chateau Haut-Brion
The venerable Château Haut-Brion's history can be traced back through many centuries, to an era when First Growths along the banks of the Gironde were mere fortresses encompassed by uninhabitable marshland. In 1935 the American financier Clarence Dillon purchased the property for 2,350,000 francs following the tumultuous years of depression which had led to many properties being put up for sale. Allegedly Dillon was also considering Cheval Blanc and Ausone but got lost in the fog and never reached those destinations. Good thing for Chateau Haut-Brion.
“The prodigious 1989 Haut-Brion is one of the greatest first-growths I have ever tasted.” (Robert Parker, 2/97)
